Montignac is a very cute village of the Dordogne department, one of the most beautiful departments of France if you’re asking me.
However, it’s not famous because of its good looks but because it’s the location of the Lascaux Caves. Well, they’re not in the village itself, but on a hill nearby.
Of course, if you’re ever in the area, I warmly advise you to make the detour. I can’t give you specific advice (but the linked site above can) as the visitor center and the reproduction of the cave both have changed quite a bit since the last time I went. I’ll definitely go the next time I’m in France, though.
